Sobre a T26

"(Laynie Whitlock)

I am really very very sorry to hear you have joined up with T-26. Carlos
Segura and I have big problems between us and I had to report him to my
Attorney General for spamming me. I charged him $500 for spamming me without
my permission and without signing up to receive his junk mail and he REFUSED
TO PAY.

It's so very sad to know Carlos Segura will be taking YOUR copyright away from
you and putting his own in your work. I hope you are charging him BIG MONEY
for stealing your copyright!

Alright -- just be VERY CAREFUL of Carlos Segura and T-26 - to me, Carlos is a
THIEF - he steals from people and I do not like people like him! I think
Carlos is evil.

Luc Devroye is a good man - he reports good things to you. :) He will telll
truth to you, Paulo.

Just be very very VERY careful of T-26 - Carlos Segura is a very bad man in my
eyes.

Now, about Carlos Segura---I know of only one bad
experience reported publically and discussed by
people such as Cybapee, Frogii and Layne herself.
It had to do with very bad customer service when people
were buying fonts. I think Segura was also one of the
17 companies that sued my friend Freddy Nader,
so Segura has a bit of a reputation as a font policeman.
I guess sometimes it can be good, but I am normally
not happy with people who tell me what to do.
I myself have no contact with him. He does not go to type meetings
and spends more time developing his business than
adoring or creating beautiful typefaces (like you).

Now, T-26 is another channel, yes. Is MyFonts not enough
for you? Did you compare also with FontShop?

Most importantly, with T-26, read the fine print. It is possible
that the fonts with the T-26 label will be out of your control.
An example: if T-26 is sold to another company, will your fonts
also go to that other company? And why would that other company
then pay you royalties? This is the kind of thing I would
worry about mostly. You should be able to withdraw your fonts anytime
and you should have protection in case of a sale or bankruptcy.
MyFonts, I am sure, is just a vendor. That is different.

Anyway, that were some thoughts. I really enjoy
all the stuff you are making--it is wonderful. Have you
thought about making a book about the Richard Gans foundry?

Carlos Segura approached me a couple of years ago, wanting to sell a few of my fonts. I started sending them my files, but one of his assistants was having trouble with them, so I sent new files, and this went on for a while. At one point, they "dropped the ball" and I never heard from them again. My mother had just died, and I was already frustrated, so I didn't pursue it any further. I have never heard from them since, and they never installed any of my fonts. So, I think they're kind of "flakey" (or not very professional), but that is just my experience. It might be quite different for you. I wish you the best. Please let me know how if goes."
